Cannabis Europa: Paris 2019

February 7th and 8th Hanway Associates was proud to host Cannabis Europa in France for the first time.

Just after wrapping up the first Cannabis Europa in London last May, a surprising move towards medical cannabis reform drew our eye to France. While the whole continent is rippling with change, we learnt from our first event in London that bringing the right people together at the right time can have positive effects that long outlast a single conference’s activities. With the French National Medicines Agency (ANSM) recommending the implementation of a medical cannabis regime and the European Parliament gearing up for a vote on cannabis, this conference was perfectly timed to kickstart meaningful reform in France.

Over the past 12 months we've seen the rapid professionalisation of the European industry, and nowhere was this more evident than at the Maison de la Chimie on the 8th of February.

Alastair Moore, Managing Director of Cannabis Europa and COO of Hanway Associates said:

Having politicians, regulators, law firms, pharmaceutical companies and business leaders in the medical cannabis space under one roof, debating the intricate details of European cannabis policy and practice is a sight to behold.

We were delighted to have been in France, and to have provided a platform for this debate, during such a pivotal time in the country's relationship with cannabis medicines.

Welcome Reception | February 7th

On the eve of the full-day conference we kicked off Cannabis Europa with an evening of networking and introductions amongst the greenery at Paris’ beautiful Alcazar restaurant.

There was clear dedication and interest from the French members of parliament that spoke at the conference, and political support for medical cannabis has continued to grow, with more deputies in the Assemblée Nationale voicing their support each day.

Pierre-Yves Galléty, General Manager of Cannabis Europa and Head of External Relations at Hanway Associates said:

Thanks to the number of MPs and MEPs present, I think the conference has brought a new perspective on cannabis and how it’s perceived by national politicians in the country, that will ultimately be the driving forces of reform.

Pierre-Yves Galléty continued:

As a Frenchman, I was delighted to bring Cannabis Europa to my country, especially since it was the first conference of its kind here. We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from all the guests: they were impressed at the level of conversation and event management we were able to bring to our first event in France.
