Founded earlier this year in Canada – the first G7 country to legalise and regulate recreational adult-use cannabis from production through to consumption – the GCP aims to develop a worldwide framework of social responsibility standards for the cannabis sector. This includes a set of guidelines around public education, promotion and advertising.

Their objectives are in keeping with Hanway Associates’ own values of embracing the unique opportunity for innovation that the industry will allow for, while building a future that is fair, sustainable and responsible.

Speaking about joining the GCP, Hanway Associates co-founder Alastair Moore said:

We are delighted to be part of the Global Cannabis Partnership. The nascent European industry is growing rapidly, but it is essential that it continues to develop responsibly and sustainably.Hanway are proud to work with the Global Cannabis Partnership to demonstrate this industry's crucial role in delivering positive social change.”

Consisting of government agencies, private-sector cannabis industry organisations and other affiliate organisations, membership of the GCP so far includes EY Canada, PwC Canada and Grant Thornton LLP.
